“Sue doesn't sing, but rather enchants us directly like a dark siren. A tremendous debut, impossible not to fall in love with it.”
— Sodapop, Italy
“The six tracks move through lust and romance, intimacy and alienation as nocturnal, cinematic club music drawn from Amsterdam’s queer nightlife.”
- EBM.gr, Greece
“Sue’s music carries the cold poise of Boy Harsher or Minuit Machine, but her own instinct leans more toward psychological ambiguity than brute force.”
— Post-Punk.com, USA
“Rather than treating music and visual expression as separate disciplines, Subject Sue brings them together within a performance that gives her electronic sound a distinctly physical and theatrical dimension.”
— Inner Echo Reviews, Italy
Subject Sue is an Amsterdam-based artist who creates darkwave and nocturnal electronica, blending pulsating synthesizers, haunting vocal harmonies and driving, hypnotic rhythms into a sound that is both seductive and unsettling. Moving between lust and romance, intimacy and alienation, her music draws inspiration from queer club culture, feminine dominance and the fragile boundary between euphoria and estrangement.
With a background in visual arts, Subject Sue brings music, performance and imagery together into a cinematic, dystopian world of nocturnal desire. What began as an alter ego has gradually evolved into something more personal: a space to explore intimacy, queer identity and the strange beauty of the night.
Her immersive live performances blur the boundaries between concert, club experience and performance art. Combining live vocals and synthesizers with a custom ethereal light installation by .WEST Studio and movement direction by Jain Fellain, Subject Sue draws audiences into a hypnotic fever dream of sound, light and movement.
After more than 80 performances of her immersive show Club Dystopia throughout the summer of 2026, Subject Sue is set to release her debut EP Details In The Dark on vinyl via Italian label Avant! Records on October 21, 2026.
